I don't even know how to describe A-kon. It was my tenth year going in a row, and as always, I had a blast. But I'm not sure if really enjoyed the convention itself. I did not stay at the Anatole-- I stayed at the Best Western around the corner (such a good deal. Half the price, and not EVEN a five minute walk. Oh, and free breakfast). There was space, but there wasn't space? I really think that they could have organized the lines a LOT better.
I didn't EVEN get a chance to go to the Dealer's Room/ Artist Alley. I couldn't navigate the halls in any of the cosplay I was wearing (large wig, large prop), and I wasn't going to be the dick cosplayer that just shoves their way through everyone. Had I known, I wouldn't have bought the badge for the weekend, and woulda sprung a Saturday one instead for the contest.
Speaking of, the Cosplay Contest was FANTASTICALLY run. Got to hang out with the AMAZING Atelier Heidi and Josh then entire time (even if Heidi's Holo ears made me sneeze). You can find her page here: [link]
Josh wore Kog'Maw in the Contest, and one Most Humerous! YAY! So awesome for his first contest ever~ So proud of my babbeh!
Sadly, A-kon was so huge, it was really hard trying to meet with people, and I don't know about you guys but.... I had NO cell reception.... AT ALL. AT. ALL. Yea. Sorry if you sent me a text to hang, I prolly didn't even get it.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend. But will I got back next year? I honestly don't know. I spent too much money and didn't do a lot.
And now for onward moving plans!
I AM A COSPLAY GUEST AT BAYOUCON 5 THIS YEAR IN LAKE CHARLES.
Even if it's a REALLY tiny convention, I'm super stoked that they asked me! I'lll be juding the contest along with
After that, it's time to crunch down on SAN JAPAN cosplays. I'm super stoked about this year, it's NOT EVEN funny. Josh and I are planning on cosplaying together (for the first time in years, too), and entering the contest!
